Following on from the NHW meeting at the Pines Golf Club on Monday 7th March 2016.
A point was raised regarding a concern about Red Button Alarm Company that had called regarding the security of his home. They offered to send a representative to inspect the security aspect of the home, fortunately this did not take place.
I would recommend that any alarm is installed by an approved installer belonging to either
NSI their web page is http://www.nsi.org.uk/
or
SSAIB their web page is https://ssaib.org/
Red Button are not listed on either site as an approved installer. Both web sites will provide detail of approved installers in your area; those installers listed on either site will not cold call people trying to drum up business.
It would appear that Red Button have a reputation for cold calling and not taking no for an answer, this can be viewed if you Google search Red Button Security.
As highlighted by Inspector Darkens during the meeting, you are under no obligation to talk to any of the cold callers either at your door or via the telephone. I would encourage you to politely say no to any of these types of calls. If at the front door keep it closed and talk through the door and decline them entry.
There is some very good advice on the following web site http://thecrimepreventionwebsite.com/personal-security/723/nuisance-telephone-calls/
